Data on the environment
In order to continually ensure that OSRAM environment protection objectives are achieved, all environmental data is systematically recorded. Data from all OSRAM plants is regularly collected and used to compile comprehensive reports on the amount of materials and energy consumed. Exemplary results from thirteen of the company's production plants reflect the return value of the company's investments in environmental protection. Environmental reports contain information on specific and absolute water consumption, changes in carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, and the volume of waste produced at each plant.
The collected data is analyzed and forms the basis for revisions and additions to the company's environmental objectives. These key numbers and the resulting efforts to treat the environment in a responsible, conscientious manner around the globe are enshrined in the environmental guidelines of OSRAM GmbH. Conducting groundbreaking research and taking an innovative approach to protect the environment are top priorities at OSRAM.
Expenditures for environmental protection
The costs of environmental protection for the European sites have been a good 4.5 million euros each year. In the year under review a greater focus on energy efficiency has led to a moderate increase in costs.
